Levein hails “ridiculous” Rangers in Philippe Clement analysis

This weekend, Rangers travel to Perth to take on a St Johnstone squad captained by Craig Levein, one of Scottish football’s most seasoned players.

Although he won’t have it all his own way, Gers manager Philippe Clement will be trying to continue the current run of success that has seen Ross County’s defense take a flurry of attempts at goal at the Ibrox.
Rangers are playing on Sunday, and Celtic has an opportunity to score first. Levein told Sky Sports that he is well aware of the difficulty that his team confronts.

Ready as on-form levein Rangers will visit St Johnstone.

Under the former Scotland manager at the Saints, there has been a consistent theme since the start of the season.

Craig Levein hails "ridiculous" Rangers in Philippe Clement analysis

Win or lose, their games never seem to be particularly expansive and they haven’t scored more than one goal since November – goalscoring is an issue.

Levein knows that St Johnstone are in for a tough afternoon against Rangers:

“They’ve got a bit of confidence, I mean, they had a ridiculous amount of shots on target the other day against Ross County.

They’re clearly in excellent form, and they can play some very nice possession football as well as be rather direct at times.

That being said, a combination is present.

“The team plays with good tempo and excellent cross-delivering ability.

It’s not only that the Rangers were shooting from everywhere; they are a strong team, which explains why they are ranked first against Ross County.

Rather than being a hit or a hope, even the long-term ones appeared to be the proper ones.

Levein may not be fully aware of Philippe Clement’s game plan, but we are all aware of St Johnstone’s game plan as well as the speed and energy this Rangers team has shown since the big Belgian arrived has to be maintained.

Throwing crosses into a packed box, however accurate they might be, will not make them uncomfortable.

Pressing high and forcing mistakes will be key in breaking down a team that gives little away.

There have been more than a few difficult trips to McDiarmid Park in the past, hopefully, a confident Rangers team make sure this isn’t another.
