The manager of Cruzeiro, Nicolas Larcamon, believes Jose Cifuentes, a Rangers failure, won’t be going back to Ibrox because he will demonstrate why the Brazilian team will extend his loan agreement.

The Ecuadorian midfielder left Rangers last week to go on loan to the Brazilian superstar Ronaldo’s Belo Horizonte team. After just six league starts, his stint in Glasgow was a complete bust, as he fell short of the expectations that surrounded his summer transfer from the Major League Soccer.

Cifuentes was shown a red card in his final Scottish Premiership match, which took place against Dundee in December. Larcamon is certain Cruzeiro will exercise the player’s buyout option under the terms of their loan agreement. “The deal is complete,” he declared. At the conclusion of Jose Cifuentes’ loan, we have the option to buy him, and I have no doubt that will happen. He will be a huge asset to the club and is a very complete player.

“Jose’s game is full with attributes. He will also provide aggression to the team and is extremely at ease with the ball. He’ll be a huge asset to our midfield. We want to get him on the team as soon as possible because he will be a great asset.”

This week, Cifuentes might make his debut for his new team in a derby against America MG, a rival club in Belo Horizonte.
