Celtic could solve their left-back issue by signing 25-year-old player Ronny Deila called ‘incredible

Greg Taylor‘s recent injury has just highlighted how woefully unequipped Celtic are in the left-back position but is there a player in the MLS that Rodgers could have turned to who wouldn’t have cost the earth? Now before you all go crazy and say, ‘Who???’, hear me out. Amundsen is a 25-year-old left-back who has won domestic honours in Norway and the USA. With a Norwegian Cup and Super Cup to his name, Amundsen has also won two MLS Cups and the Campeones Cup. [Transfermarkt] Signed by Ronny Deila when the former Celtic boss was in charge of New York City, Deila described Amundsen as having an attacking fullback with a ‘incredible work rate’, good on 1v1 situations and enjoys a tackle or two.

[New York City FC] At Columbus, Amundsen tore up the MLS. In 33 appearances he scored five goals and created two assists as Columbus finished third in the table and won the MLS Eastern Conference Play-Off final 2-1 against Los Angeles FC. Averaging a 7.55 for the season, Amundsen has been extremely consistent for the MLS side. With an 87.6% passing accuracy and 53.3% long ball accuracy, he clearly has a keen eye for a pass. Winning 67.

3% of his duels and making an average of 1.57 tackles per game, the 25-year-old also averages just under seven ball recoveries per 90 minutes. [Fotmob] Amundsen is also out of contract in December so wouldn’t cost the earth and before anyone ridicules the MLS don’t forget where our very own Alistair Johnston hailed from.
