Rangers key player to now jet out of Glasgow on Friday with another Ibrox exit on the cards

Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes will be jetting out of Scotland on Friday, 9 February, according to a report by No Ataque.

The Brazilian news outlet claimed on 5 February that he’s got certain bureaucratic work to take care of in Ecuador before his move can be finalised.

He will be the next player out of the door at Ibrox this winter after Sam Lammers and Adam Devine.

Cifuentes set for Ibrox goodbye

Cifuentes is expected to resolve certain red tape issues in his home country before finalising the transfer.

This suggests that the midfielder has likely played his last game for the club, as he didn’t even make it into the matchday squad for their recent fixture against Livingston.

Given his lack of recent game time and the agreement between Cruzeiro and Rangers for a one-season loan with an option to buy, it would be prudent for Gers to include a mandatory clause in the deal.

This clause would ensure that they receive financial compensation should Cifuentes’ transfer to Cruzeiro become permanent.

Considering Cifuentes’ potential and his experience in competitions like the MLS and the World Cup, the Ibrox outfit stand to benefit from securing a financial return on his departure.

There is perhaps no way back for him at the club anyway as he’s at least fifth or sixth in the pecking order of midfielders.
