Ibrox Exclusive: Bid submitted, Rangers eye move for left-footed English forward

Tyrese Campbell, the star player for Stoke City, is being closely watched by Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.The left-footed Championship forward, who is expected to become a free agent in the summer, is thought to have piqued the interest of the Gers once again.

Four years ago, Football Insider revealed that the club had negotiations with Campbell to try and entice him away from the bet365 Stadium, and they were highly interested in making a bid for him.

The 24-year-old is the son of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, and Philippe Clement’s team may now try again to sign him.

Hellas Verona made a deadline day bid for Campbell; sources told Football Insider on February 1 that the Potters turned down the Serie A team’s nearly £1 million offer.

After recovering from an injury, the Englishman resumed training early last month and has since appeared in Stoke’s past four league games.

He has made 13 appearances for Steven Schumacher’s team this season in all competitions, netting two goals and dishing out one assist.
On Saturday, February 3, he kicked off Stoke’s most recent Championship match, which ended in a 5-0 thumping by league leaders Leicester City.

When Fabio Silva’s loan from Premier League team Wolves expires at the end of the current campaign, Rangers will lose him, thus they will likely need to bolster their front line in the summer.

This season, Campbell, an extremely adaptable attacker, has been used at left wing, centre forward, offensive midfield, and right midfield.

Rangers, who are currently three points behind Celtic with one game remaining, defeated Livingston 3-0 on Saturday, February 3, to move into second place in the Scottish Premier League.

Their next game is on Tuesday night, February 6, against Aberdeen, who are currently in seventh position.
