Leon Balogun suffers ‘bad injury’ as Rangers boss Philippe Clement discusses details

Following Leon Balogun’s early forced exit against Livingston, PhiELTIClippe Clement feels the Rangers defender has “probably broken something in his face.”

After only 22 minutes at Ibrox, the Nigerian goalkeeper had to be replaced by John Souttar due to a head-on collision with Livingston center-back Shaun Donnellan. Although Clement acknowledges that the injury is severe, he expresses optimism that the 35-year-old will not require a prolonged period of rest, calling the former QPR player a “warrior.”

Leon Balogun speaks to Philippe Clement after being forced off
After the 3-0 victory, the Belgian was asked about Balogun and responded, “Not good and good in a way.” It is not good since he most likely shattered something in his face and it is a serious injury. The good news is that he is a veteran and a fighter who has dealt with similar situations in the past. I hope that’s the case since he thinks he can return quickly with a mask. The medical personnel must make that determination.”
With a game remaining, midfielder Todd Cantwell scored a third goal in the 56th minute to pull Clement’s team three points behind leaders Celtic. Although Celtic, who drew 1-1 with the Dons at Pittodrie earlier in the day, take on Hibs 24 hours later, supporters will be enthused about the chance of climbing top of the league against Aberdeen at Ibrox on Tuesday night. The Govan side’s next game is against Ross County on February 14.
“That is the nice thing to be a fan,” Clement continued. Prior to becoming a player, I was also a fan. That life is very different. We are aware that total attention is necessary for us to do our duties.”Everyone has Rangers on their minds, not their own egos but the team as a whole. The dressing room now has a really strong sense of teamwork, and I’m going to work really hard to keep it that way. We see outcomes because of this. We might lose that the instant we begin to think about other people.”
