Ridvan Yilmaz ‘expected’ to leave Rangers as gallus Galatasaray go big with ‘bumper new offer’ to land their man

The 22-year-old has been connected to an Ibrox exit during the transfer season, but his absence would create a vacancy on the left back position.According to a source in Turkey, Galatasaray are prepared to go above and beyond in an attempt to sign Rangers full-back Ridvan Yilmaz, moving closer to the Ibrox club’s £4 million value of the player.

However, the Light Blues’ attempt to sign Jefte, who is now on loan at APOEL Nicosia from Fluminense, as a substitute would have failed, leaving Philippe Clement with a difficult decision. In a further twist, the Super Lig team would have until February 9 to finalise a deal, with the transfer deadline extended in Turkey while it shuts at 11.30pm in Scotland, even if Galatasaray is making every effort to sign him today.

Yilmaz and fellow left back Borna Barisic have warned Clement that he won’t let them both leave Ibrox without a replacement, but Galatasaray seem determined to test Rangers’ resolve because a player who wants to play regularly, especially in his home country, would probably improve his chances of making his country’s Euro 2024 squad. The 22-year-old struggled to have a significant effect after joining from Besiktas for an original fee of £3.4 million. Ironically, many of his better performances have come in recent weeks, right before rumours of his departure are swirling.

Galatasaray has had bids turned down, but according to Fotomac, the Istanbul behemoths are going to put in a serious effort on the day of the UK deadline. They stated: “Glasgow Rangers and Galatasaray have been in talks for a long time over Rıdvan Yilmaz, who is Galatasaray’s top left-back prospect. Three million euros was given by Galatasaray, who wished to purchase the option to rent Ridvan Yilmaz, but this offer was turned down. It is anticipated that they will finalise the transfer and raise the price. Ridvan’s decision to support the yellow-red team is also considered as advantageous because he wants to play frequently and be included in the European Championship squad.
