Report: Rangers are demanding £4m with deadline day Ibrox exit in the balance

On the last day of the Scottish Premiership window, discussions about Rangers’ and Galatasaray’s valuation of Turkey international Ridvan Yilmaz seem to be about £2 million apart.Rangers v Red Star sees away fans out for revengeEven though the Super Lig window isn’t supposed to close until February 9th, Galatasaray has a strong desire to close a deal as quickly as possible. After all, Rangers have till tonight to find a replacement for Ridvan Yilmaz. If no new left-back can be signed to occupy Yilmaz’s spot, Philippe Clement’s team would be reluctant to allow him to leave for Istanbul after play on Thursday night.

As per Fotospor, the two parties’ valuations of the former Besiktas player are still roughly £2 million apart.

In Ridvan Yilmaz’s conversations, Rangers and GalatasarayHibernian FC v Rangers FC - Cinch Scottish PremiershipRangers are requesting £4 million, either in cash or through a buyout clause that will kick in following a first loan period. Galatasaray, though, seems to be dreaming that they can finalise a deal for more like £2 million.

Rangers is not going to take such a big loss on a player who signed in the summer of 2022 for £3.5 million. In addition, Yilmaz would leave when in the prime of his Gers career, having opened the score away to Hibernian a few days before and shining in Saturday’s 1-0 victory at St Mirren.

After converting a superb John Lundstram pass at Easter Road, former Rangers forward McCann tells BBC SportScene, “I think there’s still a chance he could have a future (at Ibrox).”

“I would think it weird that they would let Ridvan Yilmaz walk out the door if they don’t get a replacement.

“I believe the boy will accept the suggestion from Galatasaray to return to Turkey if the chance arises. However, I don’t believe they should sell him if they can’t find a replacement. He ought to stay with them.

“He demonstrated that he had something there (against Hibs). Additionally, Philippe Clement has a talent for inspiring athletes to give their best.

Jefte’s agreement collapses
As Yilmaz’s replacement, Rangers were eager to sign Jefte, but it looks like negotiations have fallen down. Clement’s team may now focus on James Penrice, HITC, as they have been informed that the 25-year-old defender from Livingston is a target.
