Rangers star demands very high wage to quit before 11pm
Erinc Bilican reports that Ridvan Yilmaz is demanding a huge salary in order to depart from Rangers and sign with Galatasaray before to the end of the January transfer window.A deal is unlikely to happen because the Light Blues demand €5 million for his services before the deadline of Thursday, February 1st, according to a Turkish journalist who posted on the Markaj YouTube channel. The left-back reportedly wants a big salary.
Although there has been much conjecture over Yilmaz’s future throughout the January transfer window, it now seems likely that Galatasaray will decide to use its current left-sided defenders rather than sign a new one this month.
Hopefully
Rangers cannot afford to lose one of their only left-back options this late in the transfer window, leaving them with little time to find a suitable replacement, even though Yilmaz has been inconsistent during his time at Ibrox.
Borna Barisic’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and Philippe Clement will have a difficult task in trying to find a replacement and contend for the Premiership if both Yilmaz and the Croatian depart Ibrox within six months of one another.
Yilmaz’s desire to travel to Turkey during the January transfer window has never been quite apparent, but it makes sense that he would have demanded a significant wage increase to leave Rangers, where he is currently the Light Blues’ starting first-choice defender.
In the last seconds of the January window, Galatasaray shouldn’t bet a lot of money on this deal, but even if they did, it doesn’t seem possible that this deal would close with so little time remaining.
