Aberdeen considering appointing manager who has admitted he loves Rangers

Neil Warnock, who has shown his fondness for Rangers in the past, may now manage against the Gers as Aberdeen looks to make a move.

With the January transfer deadline drawing near, all attention has been on transfer-related matters.

By adding Oscar Cortes to Philippe Clement’s team, Rangers have acquired some late business, but things at Aberdeen are very different.

Barry Robson, the manager of the Dons, was recently fired after just four league victories in 14 games.

Rangers supporters will find great interest in one name that Aberdeen is considering for their next manager.
Aberdeen is pursuing Neil Warnock, a self-described Rangers fan.

According to The Scottish Sun, Aberdeen is giving serious thought to pursuing experienced manager Neil Warnock.

The Aberdeen board may be considering managers who can serve as interim leaders until the summer, giving them time to recruit a permanent replacement.

Rather than being a viable candidate to lead Aberdeen forward in the upcoming years, Warnock is believed to be in the running for that kind of role.

When Warnock, 75, left Huddersfield Town back in September, he was no longer in management.

Though it’s unclear if he would like moving to Pittodrie, Warnock has made no secret of his passion for Scottish football, especially Rangers.

Before declaring his love for the Gers in November, Warnock hinted that he had always wanted to coach Celtic or Rangers.

“I’m a huge fan of the Rangers here, and I adore them. Only because Alan Brazil is a crazy Celtic, and me and Ally McCoist are Rangers,” Warnock remarked.

At that time, the Rangers were searching for a new manager, and Clement had been hired, therefore Warnock had not been chosen.

Aberdeen is now thinking of sending Warnock to Scotland in his latter years, so he might now have an opportunity to manage against Rangers.

There’s even a chance that Warnock will lead the Dons on their Tuesday trip to Ibrox if he gets the job in the coming days.

For Warnock, that would be a momentous occasion, but as the Aberdeen board plans a new appointment, they have a lot on their minds.
