Rangers to pay ‘over the odds’ to sign striker who’ll fire them to league title

Derek Ferguson is determined that before the transfer market shuts on Thursday night, Philippe Clement brings a new striker to Rangers.

With little over 24 hours remaining, the Light Blues can wrap up any unfinished business and get back to trying to defeat Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Thus far this winter, Clement has signed Mohamed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland on a loan-to-buy agreement and Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves.

Oscar Cortes, a Colombian winger for Lens, is another player the Light Blues are anticipated to sign [Glasgow Times].

Ferguson won’t be quite content, though, unless Clement also adds a new centre forward.

With Silva’s arrival and Sam Lammers heading out on loan to Utrecht in Holland, Cyriel Dessers has been playing well since the conclusion of the winter break.

But according to former Ibrox star Ferguson, a legitimate number nine should be on the table in the final hours of the transfer window.

“A striker is needed,” Ferguson stated to Ibrox News.
The Rangers

We were discussing left-backs, and Fabio Silva is a winger who has arrived. Rangers need a striker because he isn’t an all-around striker.

“They have done well in business thus far, but they must obtain one if they are sincere in their desire to win this title.

“It’s just the way things work sometimes that you have to pay more than the odds.”
