‘My dream’: 23-year-old midfielder mentions Celtic amid transfer links

Celtic fans have their fingers crossed and are hopeful that the club can conclude some much-needed deals before the January transfer window shuts. The cut-off point is on Thursday and, as of this moment, winger Nicolas Kuhn remains the only arrival for Brendan Rodgers. Another name that has been linked to Celtic is midfielder Jeong Ho-yeon of Gwangju FC and he has spoken out about links to the Glasgow giants. The 23-year-old admitted that he ‘hasn’t heard anything about a transfer to Celtic’, but he did make it clear ‘my dream of challenging overseas is ongoing’, as quoted by The Daily Record. Even though the middle of the park is one of the strongest suits, it does need that added bite and power.

Now, Jeong Ho-yeon isn’t exactly a Victor Wanyama, but he would provide extra legs and energy in midfield, and that in a market Celtic can trust because it has worked many times before. Despite that, the chaos of deadline day still falls in between games, with Celtic taking on Aberdeen at Saturday lunchtime, days before the window slams shut. A lot will be clearer by then, including if any surprise deals can be concluded or much-needed areas of the pitch filled. The one area that should concern Rodgers straight away is the left-back spot because Greg Taylor is inured and action needs to be taken.
