Rangers target seals potential £7m transfer as another Ibrox-linked ace joins English club

Two defense prospects who were supposedly on the Rangers’ radar saw their immediate futures secured in the last week of the window.Rangers attempted to sign Luke Thomas on a loan from Leicester City, according to Peter O’Rourke’s Football Insider. Thomas had a challenging first half of the season while on loan at Sheffield United, and The Foxes are willing to sever that relationship and approve a new one.

However, the England Under-21 international currently plays for his original club in the Championship rather than moving north of the border. Officially, Thomas plays for Middlesbrough. That is, until June, at least.
Luke is a welcome addition to the team, says Boro manager Michael Carrick, grinning.

“He’s a great addition to the team, bringing a wealth of experience and a sense of balance to our lineup.” We’re excited to collaborate with him.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel Adjei has signed a brief contract of his own. The center-half, who is owned by Hammarby, is the newest Ghanaian player to sign a permanent contract with FC Lorient; it might cost up to £6 million (SportBladet).
Before Christmas, Sky Sports reports that Rangers deployed scouts to observe Adjei. The much sought-after center half was expected to depart Swedish football at the moment for a price around £4 million.

“It’s a fantastic chance for me to join Merlus (Lorient) and learn about Ligue 1. a competition where a large number of Ghanaians have participated. I am moving forward in my career by joining FC Lorient,” Adjei said on the team’s website.

“By interacting with my new teammates, I will maintain my advancement and fortify myself to the greatest extent possible. Although the task before of us is significant, I’ll stop at nothing to accomplish the season’s goal.

It’s doubtful that Rangers will sign a central defender this month. Clement has access to John Souttar, Ben Davies, Leon Balogun, and Connor Goldson. However, a left-back may still arrive as the Glasgow giants are rumored to have agreed to acquire Fluminense prodigy Jefte.
