Celtic in hunt to sign 23-year-old forward after Rodgers makes transfer admission

Sydney van Hooijdonk, an attacker for Bologna, is one of Celtic’s targets in the January transfer window as they attempt to reinforce their front lineup.

The lone addition to the Bhoys roster thus far is Nicolas Kuhn, who signed a £2.8 million contract from Rapid Vienna last week.

He most likely won’t be the only addition made this month as Brendan Rodgers hopes to bolster his roster with a striker and a left-back.

Van Hooijdonk may be a possibility for the Hornets, as per a report from Football Scotland, and internal discussions regarding the 23-year-old have taken place among Celtic scouts.

The Italian club has informed the striker that he has no future there, so the Bhoys have an opportunity to sign him. However, unless there is a purchase obligation, Bologna will not approve a loan move.

Celtic has not yet extended a bid because they are still considering their alternative options.

Rodgers must bring in additional players.

Rodgers made a suggestion in a recent interview that he wants to add more players.

“Well, a lot of work is being done. Hopefully, we can strengthen the team before the window closes,” he remarked.

Though the former Liverpool manager might have different ideas, it will be interesting to see whether they make a play for the Dutchman.

One player who has been linked to a move is Mathias Kvistgaarden, and teenage attacker Joe Gelhardt of Leeds United has drawn interest.

If Celtic receives a high price for one or two players, they may be compelled to sell. Premier League teams are vying for Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Celtic may want a hefty transfer fee in exchange for him.

La Liga leaders Girona are interested in signing Matt O’Riley, but Celtic are unlikely to let him go this month since they will earn a sizable transfer money in exchange.
