How Matt O’Riley is feeling at Celtic right now amid transfer rumours

Matt O’Riley’s mental state at Celtic has been discussed by manager Brendan Rodgers, despite speculations that he

O’Riley has been playing for the Bhoys in all competitions this season, and in 28 games, he has ten goals and 10 assists.

He will undoubtedly be linked to a transfer to a higher league, but Rodgers isn’t worried about it at all because he says the player is content in Glasgow and that Celtic doesn’t need to sell him.

The Celtic YouTube boss stated during a press conference this afternoon that the Bhoys are in a strong position and that they have no plans to sell. This is the time of year when there is naturally a lot of player rumours and conjecture.

“I see people like Matt; he seems incredibly content right now. He recently inked a new contract, has made great strides, now has double digit goals and assists.

Therefore, his only goal as a young player—who, I know, is a superb professional—is to get better. Here is where the progress is seen. We simply take each day as it comes and evaluate it accordingly.

There is no pressing need for the club to pursue a high-profile transfer as O’Riley merely signed his most recent long-term contract in September and it expires in 2027.
In the same way, if the midfield player wanted to leave the team as soon as possible, he wouldn’t have committed to it.

It’s much more likely that he’ll play out the season with Celtic and then review his options in the summer, when there might even be more teams interested in signing him.

Nobody needs to be concerned about an O’Riley exit just yet. For sure, Rodgers isn’t.
