Leeds boost as Rangers close in on loan deal for £10m man, move near completion

Leeds needs a left-sided defender because Junior Firpo and Sam Byram have been sidelined for extended periods of time due to injury this season. That was before to two more exits. In fact, Luke Ayling will leave Leeds in the summer, while Djed Spence and Ayling have moved on to Middlesbrough and Genoa. Leeds will eventually require a left-sided defender to join the team.

Borna Barisic, a defender for the Rangers, is one target. Leeds is eager to entice the Croatian star south of the border as his contract expires at the end of the current campaign. For the past five years, he has been a top player for the Gers.

Recent rumors suggested that Jurasek and Marko Bulat of Dinamo Zagreb were considered by the Rangers as Barisic’s replacements. Barisic has been asked to sign a new contract because they want to keep him at Ibrox.
However, it appears that Rangers will soon finalize Jurasek’s £10 million transfer from Benfica. As per TeamTalk’s report today, an agreement might be reached as early as the start of the following week.

Rangers are reportedly very close to signing a left-back of their own, most likely to replace Barisic. The Croat is reportedly attracting interest from clubs around Europe, not only Leeds.

Leeds seems to have the ideal chance to get Barisic now that Jurasek is expected to transfer to Glasgow. It might not be a long-term addition, but in the short term, Leeds would benefit much from having it.
