Ben Johnson to Rangers transfer links, player profile and analysis

This January transfer window was expected to bring in a lot of business for Rangers supporters, but so far only one deal has been made. However, there are still a lot of names being connected to the Rangers, and on Monday, a surprising name surfaced in the English media. According to reports, Rangers is in the running with Leeds United and Sheffield United for the signing of Ben Johnson, the defender for West Ham United.

The 23-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, and he has turned down opportunities to extend it at London Stadium thus far.

Since the Rangers might jump all over Johnson, let’s examine his current career.

Johnson, who was born in Waltham Forest, began playing as a winger when he first joined West Ham at the age of seven.

After changing his position to full defender, Johnson advanced through the Hammers’ ranks and made his Premier League debut in February 2019.
Johnson has played in 57 Premier League games, but he still hasn’t cemented a place in the starting lineup at London Stadium.

Johnson has filled in throughout the back four for West Ham while he has been a right back, center back, and left back.

Johnson is the second cousin of former England internationals Ledley King, a legend at Tottenham, and Paul Parker, an ex-ace at Manchester United.

Johnson hasn’t yet continued the family legacy of playing for the senior team, despite being a regular for the England Under-21 team.
