Rangers ready offer to sign Bristol City left-back Cameron Pring as Ibrox transfer decision to be made

The Sun journalist reported via his Patreon [14 January] that the Scottish giants are readying a move for the Championship left-back this January, with the position at Rangers needing to be filled.

Rangers fans can expect more transfer business in January - because I do, insists Philippe Clement | The Scottish Sun

The defender is said to be one of the best in his position in the second tier of English football, recently coming up against the likes of West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen in the FA Cup.

“Rangers are checking on Bristol City left-back Cameron Pring as they look to fill their position problem,” Nixon wrote.

“Pring is one of the better number threes in the Championship and the Glasgow giants are deciding whether to offer in the window.”

Clement has made his desire for a new left-back very clear, with Ridvan Yilmaz and Borna Barisic failing to impress the Belgian since he took over the managerial post in October.

Although the former has been deputising in defence more regularly, Yilmaz could already be on his way out of Ibrox despite signing a five-year deal after completing a £3.4million move from Besiktas in July 2022,

Pring, who has been a fine servant for the Robins since 2017, making a total of 98 appearances amongst a plethora of loan spells, has become a big name in the Championship and has helped Bristol City maintain a mid-table standing throughout several seasons.

His two goals and nine assists show evidence of his attacking output, too, which will interest Clement as he looks to implement a much more attacking style of play than either Yilmaz or Barisic can offer.

However, it could take a hefty transfer fee to prise Pring away from the English club if the deal is to happen in January. But with his contract extension coming to a close at the end of the season, as per BBC Sport, Rangers could choose to wait until the player is available on a free transfer.
