Rangers in contact for signing – Philippe Clement to be given transfer red carpet

The Portuguese media today underlines Rangers interest in Benfica fullback David Jurásek, and it sounds great for Philippe Clement. A few media sources are discussing this pursuit. A Bola is one of them, and he says the Eagles are open to lending the 23-year-old.

Benfica might let go of one of their left backs this transfer window as they are set to get Alvaro Fernandez from Manchester United. They seem to want Jurásek to gain more experience, therefore he appears to be first in line.
According to reports, Rangers was the “latest club” to express interest in the short-term agreement, with Marseille losing out.

The pursuit is also discussed in the newspaper O Jogo, which also confirms Jurásek’s departure from Benfica this winter.

They said that in order to “evaluate the conditions” of a season-long loan, Rangers contacted Benfica.

O Jogo, however, makes the pursuit appear a little more difficult by initially asserting that Marseille did not withdraw from the tournament and then claiming that Lens and other teams are still interested in the player.

Benfica paid €14 million to get Jurásek from Slavia Praga in the summer, and Philippe Clement’s team will need to make a strong case to prove that Rangers can be a suitable environment for him to grow.
