Philippe Clement addressing transfers in Rangers and sets future for Ridvan Yilmaz

Philippe Clement admits Rangers may be forced to wait until the summer to get their top targets.

Wolves striker Fabio Silva remains the Ibrox club’s only January arrival but Clement is keen to bolster his squad with more signings. A new left-back and midfielder are understood to be key positions for strengthening, while another striker is also on the wish list. Clement confirmed work is going on in the background as Gers chiefs work for the Belgian’s shortlist.

He said: “Everyone is working hard for that, to find the right players who can add something extra to the squad. January is always a difficult period in that regard, but everyone in the club is working hard to bring players here. I expect, everybody expects and we are all working hard.

“I can’t put a figure on it because I know out of experience that you never get everything you want. Maybe clubs with all the money in the world, they can do that, but not clubs like Rangers. We are going to make it as good as possible in this period, but it’s much easier in the summer.”
Ridvan Yilmaz is expected to leave before the window closes on February 2, with the Turkish left-back attracting interest in Italy. But Clement refused to be drawn on the defender’s future, adding: “It is the same as the situation with the rumours about players coming in. As long as players haven’t signed somewhere else and they are here, they are still with us.”
