Harry Kewell names the Celtic star who possesses ‘so much potential’

Harry Kewell acknowledges that he leaped at the chance to manage Yokohama F. Marinos and carry on Ange Postecoglou’s legacy. After serving as Kevin Muscat’s replacement at the J1 League team for a year and a half, the former Celtic coach was introduced this week. The 45-year-old said that during Celtic’s summer preseason trip to Japan—where the Hoops lost 6-4 to Yokohama in an exciting friendly match—he was first contacted about the position.

Later, when Muscat announced his intention to resign in November, a member of the club’s leadership approached Kewell about taking over as manager. Working with Celtic’s Japanese contingent and having worked with Postecoglou, Kewell realized this was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
The speaker stated: “I had the good fortune to spend some time with Ange Postecoglou, and he was always talking about how great the J League was and how great his experience was in Japan. He used to tell me, “If you ever get the chance, you should take that opportunity and work over here,” which was a compliment.

“I had the good fortune to be present when Celtic visited during the summer. I think I fell in love with this place after the Marinos game, which was wonderful. After the championship game, I had the good fortune to receive a call from the Marinos asking if I would want to take over as manager of their club. I guess the rest is history.”
Kewell, meanwhile, cited former Yokos star and hoops flying machine Daizen Maeda as a key factor in his choice to relocate to Japan.
