Rangers: Derek Ferguson slams underachieving Ibrox flop

Rae was drafted in to help Steven Davis during his interim tenure when Michael Beale was sacked at the start of October. Former Rangers man Ferguson – speaking exclusively to Ibrox News – thinks it was a canny move from Clement to keep Rae involved behind the scenes.

He said: “I love the fact he took his time with some of the staff as well, one of my mates old Alex Rae I was delighted because Alex is a great guy, knows the game inside out.

“He’s taken his time with Alex in terms of making a decision over whether he was going to keep him on so I’m delighted for Alex because I think he (Clement) realises it’s not always about the player or about the coach it’s about what they’re like as people and I think that’s what he’s done really well.
