Nicolas Kuhn has heart set on Celtic move despite German and Italian interest; arrival timeline

The Bhoys have been in negotiations with Rapid Vienna for his signature and have already been granted a work permit for his eventual arrival in Scotland.

Football Scotland now reports that working under Brendan Rodgers was a big factor in Kuhn choosing to play for Celtic and that he has his heart set on a switch to the Bhoys despite significant interest from elsewhere.

An agreement on a £2.8m deal is now said to be very close, with the transfer set to be rubber-stamped next week after some finishing touches over the weekend.

It’s stated by the outlet that Kuhn will not be travelling with Rapid for their winter training camp and that they are already well down the line in looking for a replacement.

Kuhn, 24, is a former German youth international and has had spells at Ajax and Bayern Munich in the past, featuring extensively for their feeder sides before making the switch to Austria.

He’s made 51 appearances in all competitions for Rapid Vienna and is being signed to immediately compete for a first-team spot at the Bhoys alongside Liel Abada, Daizen Maeda and Luis Palma.

FotMob data shows he’s one of the most creative wingers in the Austrian Bundesliga this season with crossing accuracy and dribbling among his biggest strengths.

All going well with injuries, Rodgers now has four quality wingers heading into the second half of the campaign.

The club are thought to be keen on making other additions to, with the left-back and striking positions said to be the biggest priorities.
