Jack Clarke transfer ‘inevitable’, it will take £20m+ to sign him from Sunderland

Jack Clarke’s departure from Sunderland for a Premier League team is “inevitable,” according to Carlton Palmer, despite Everton’s interest in signing him.

The analyst said that a deal won’t likely happen until the summer and that it will take more than £20 million for the Black Cats to offload the 23-year-old in an interview with Football League World on Friday, January 12.
It follows a story from the Northern Echo on Wednesday, January 10, stating that up to six clubs, including the Toffees, are keeping an eye on the English winger’s status with the Championship team.
“Southampton and Leicester have joined the race to sign Sunderland’s Jack Clarke,” stated Palmer. “The 23-year-old is playing even better in this current campaign after having an incredible 22/23 season. With 12 goals so far, the gifted winger leads Sunderland in goal scoring.

“If Sunderland were to sell in January it would take a bid in excess of £20million, which Southampton and Leicester would be capable of paying. Nevertheless, considering how eagerly teams like West Ham, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Everton, and Bournemouth are to sign him, it would be illogical for Jack to transfer to another Championship team in January.

“It’s inevitable that Jack will leave Sunderland and sign with a Premier League team, and I believe that summer is when this will most likely happen.”With two and a half years remaining on his deal, Jack is content and doing well for Sunderland. The only thing that alters, then, is the enormous offer that Sunderland received.

Not taking place

Despite their interest in Clarke, Everton doesn’t seem to have much chance of spending more than £20 million on anyone during this transfer window.

That is due to a variety of reasons, including the club’s current financial situation, which prevents them from taking any chances on possible acquisitions.

The Toffees won’t be looking to spend much, if any, money this month since they are concerned about their financial fair play standing following their 10-point deduction in November.

However, if a takeover does succeed in the coming months and Sean Dyche receives additional funding in the summer, they may reconsider a move for the winger.

However, in order to help the Blues avoid relegation once more this season, the manager will likely need to keep attempting to make the most of what he has at his disposal until then.
