Manager delighted to sign £3.5m Rangers star player

Coach Ron Jans of FC Utrecht is thrilled that Sam Lammers has joined the team from Rangers, but he also says that the Eredivisie team “couldn’t really wish for better.”

It would be an understatement to suggest that the Dutchman goes home with a point to prove.

Sam Lammers cost Atalanta and Rangers around £12 million in total, although he performed poorly at both teams, only managing two goals and two assists in his 31 games for the dominant Scottish Premiership team.

When the chance to send Lammers on loan presented itself this week, Rangers didn’t seem to think twice about returning the player, who they had paid £3.5 million to sign a four-year contract, to the Eredivisie.

Lammers, who is now 26 years old and has just finished three and a half generally awful seasons, understands that he will not be able to continue enjoying that successful run at Heerenveen indefinitely. That 19-goal season in Friesland is, after all, five years old now.

Though a team with their budget could barely have thought of bringing in a superior option in the final third, Utrecht head Ron Jans is certain that there is still a very talented footballer in there someplace.

According to the Twente website, the seasoned strategist states, “We couldn’t really wish for better.” “We are overjoyed by this. He can improve the team’s football performance because he is a very skilled player technically.
The contract for Lammers does not contain an option to purchase. Rangers would have to take a big loss if they were to cash in on the Mick Beale acquisition come summertime because Utrecht can only afford to part with roughly £1.5 million for permanent signings.

Rangers bring in Wolves’ Fabio Silva.

Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson tells the Daily Record, “Philippe Clement has made room for new arrivals by letting Sam Lammers leave after only six months at the club, and that’s another huge tick in the manager’s box.”

Informing a new player that he is already overutilized is not an easy task. particularly a man who came for a very small fee. However, by letting Lammers know that it’s simply not working out, Clement has demonstrated his decisiveness and initiative.

He provided the Dutchman with numerous chances to demonstrate his worth, but Lammers was unable to meet his expectations. I would argue that it wasn’t due to a deficiency of effort. He may have been exerting a little too much effort to win over the management and the supporters.

“But Clement moved quickly to act in the best interests of both Rangers and him because it simply wasn’t working for either of them.”

Fabio Silva, another out-of-favour attacker who switched teams in quest of a new beginning, might now steal Lammers’ spot.
