Celtic open talks to sign another attacking star after deal agreed

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Celtic and Danish team Brondby have begun negotiations about signing attacker Mathias Kvistgaarden this month.

The 21-year-old, who has stood out in the Danish top division this season, is reportedly still in negotiations with the Hoops to join him.

The team led by Brendan Rodgers is still trading this month and is trying to add to their offense after a number of players—Hyeongyu Oh, Daizen Maeda, and Hyunjun Yang—left to play in the Asian Cup.
The Hoops have prioritized a striker, a central midfielder, and a left winger in the January transfer window, as Football Insider reported last month (December 28).

Sources claim that a deal for Nicolas Kuhn is almost finalized as Celtic puts the finishing touches on it.

Kvistgaarden, on the other hand, has a long history of playing both strike and flank positions. This season, he has made 21 appearances across all competitions, tallying seven goals and seven assists.

From November 2020, when the academy product made his debut, he has proven to be indispensable to Brondby.

In May, Kvistgaarden signed a new contract with the team that will keep him committed until the summer of 2027.

In 81 games, the 2002-born star has scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists for Brondby, helping them to the league title in the 2021–2022 season.

Since making his under-18 debut in September 2019, he has been a mainstay for Denmark’s young teams. Most recently, he played for the under-21s in a European Championship qualifier against Wales.

Before the Christmas break, Celtic led the league by eight points over Rangers, who were in second place. On January 21, Celtic would play Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup.

Also, sources say that Bologna has been given permission to talk with the eighteen-year-old Celtic sensation.
