Rangers transfer news: ‘Genuine chance’ update emerges on Michy Batshuayi deal after striker offered at Ibrox

The 4th Official has been informed by sources that signing Michy Batshuayi by Rangers during the January transfer window is not thought to be likely.

On January 10, the publication revealed via Patreon that the Belgian striker’s chances of signing with Ibrox will only be “genuine” if his present team, Fenerbache, suffers a “massive hit” to his pay.

Rangers transfer news: Michy Batshuayi update emerges at Ibrox
The 30-year-old former Chelsea player was reportedly made an offer by the Light Blues, but “as of right now” the required financial concessions are “not happening.”

Rangers are reportedly considering many forwards, but they are not disclosing any information. Nevertheless, they “definitely” hope to sign a striker.

However, with the summer’s financial commitment and even considering Sam Lammers and Ridvan Yilmaz’s departures, a Batshuayi move is reportedly “difficult.”

Finances are a major factor in everything that happens at Ibrox this month, so maybe that will put a major wrench in the works.

Should Philippe Clement be in discussions with a fellow countryman today, the Ibrox manager would undoubtedly be aware that Batshuayi’s pay in Istanbul was substantial.

It’s possible that he believes he can persuade the striker to forgo a little financial gain in exchange for five months as the SPFL’s de facto main man, which would provide him with a strong foundation for inclusion in the Euro 2024 squad.

That is a potentially winning pitch, but Fenerbahce would have relatively little motivation to pay out on a sizable percentage of the income if that were the case.

On paper, Batshuayi’s solid scoring record in the Turkish Super Lig over the past season and a half makes him the ideal addition for Clement, who is eyeing a championship challenge and other potential trophies over the second half of the season.

However, if the numbers don’t add up, it won’t be achievable, which would be a clear source of dissatisfaction if the player wasn’t already inclined to take the risk.

A £1.29 million fee update has surfaced for Rangers, and a physical is scheduled for another January transfer involving the Gers.
