Man Utd legend Roy Keane opens up on ‘iconic’ Celtic spell and reveals Everton and Bolton Wanderers interest

In a recent podcast, Premier League great Roy Keane talked candidly about his time at Celtic, bestowing accolades upon the “iconic” team that he “loved.” On SkyBet’s Stick to Football podcast, which he co-hosts with old teammate Gary Neville, the Sky Sports commentator was questioned about his time at the Glasgow giants. Keane also discussed his opinions of Gordon Strachan’s Regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, Keane disclosed on the podcast why, in 2005, he declined several Premier League offers to relocate to Scotland.

“I had conversations with Bolton, Everton, and a few other teams. I used to think that way, which is absurd when a franchise is pushing you out the door while preventing you from signing with other teams. I felt I couldn’t go to another English team, but Everton would have been a wonderful transfer at the time because of the location and my immense regard for David Moyes,” the analyst stated.

The legendary player for Manchester United played in just ten games for the Spurs, but he doesn’t seem to regret moving north of the border, stating, “I wasn’t injured all the time at Celtic, so I didn’t kick a ball.” Even though I was completely at ease at Manchester United—and I treasured every second of my time there—I did find it refreshing to spend six months in a different locker room.managerial approach and disclosed the teams he declined in favor of the Hoops.
“I visited Celtic, a legendary and fantastic club. Although the stadium is amazing, I hadn’t actually visited the practice area. I’m going back a few years; currently, they have a decent one. I was in the Celtic dressing room; we changed at Celtic Park and drove to the pitch wearing our boots and equipment,” Keane remembered.
The midfielder who won the Champions League also provided an intriguing look into the life of former Scotland and Celtic manager Gordon Strachan, who brought him to Glasgow over two decades ago.

Gordon and Celtic saw some success, although he claimed to have abandoned all transfer attempts. “I’ve bought too many bad players,” he said. “Gordon raised his hand,” Keane said. “It’s clear that he was somewhat successful in bringing players to Coventry, but at some point he said, ‘I’m pulling away from all [transfers]’. He probably had some talks, but he stayed out of it, and that makes him an experienced manager.
