Kenny Miller has picked Celtic’s Luis Palma as a contender for signing of the season so far in Scotland.

The Scottish Premiership is at a halt and will return to action on January 27 with a home tie against Ross County for the Bhoys.

But who has been the best signing of the season so far? Well, Kenny Miller certainly thinks Celtic can throw Luis Palma’s name into the hat, even though several other signings haven’t worked out, as he told Clyde 1.

Gustaf Lagerbielke was signed in the summer, but it seems as though he could be heading for the exit door already, whilst Maik Nawrocki hasn’t exactly been fancied by Brendan Rodgers.

After losing Jota to Saudi Arabia, Celtic lost a key player who helped Ange Postecoglou deliver a historic and entertaining Treble last season.

Yes, both Jota and Luis Palma have two very different styles, but the Honduran star is doing very well to replace such a profitable and consistent performer for the club.

Kenny Mailer hailed the 23-year-old’s ‘technical ability’ and how his performances have been ‘very, very good’.

Luis Palma Signing of the Season

“I was actually racking my brain when we were talking about signings and what new signings for Celtic actually start games,” said Miller.

“Palma is the one. Bernardo has obviously come in during the last four games. I think he has been really, really good in the last four or five games, Bernardo. Is that enough to be in this type of conversation about the signing of the season? Probably not.

Kenny Miller delivers verdict on Celtic's Luis Palma being the signing of the season in the Scottish Premiership

“But Palma absolutely does. His assists. His goals. In terms of a replacement for Jota, he is no Jota, but he is a different type of player. But his numbers are as equally as good.

“With Palma, that was a position that needed to be addressed when Jota left. It took him a little bit of time to nail that slot down, but since he has, what has he got seven goals, up there with assists as well. His performances have been very good. He just gives them something different on that side of the pitch than what Maeda does, with his pace and power. What Palma brings is that technical ability. That vision. Pass and creativity. Whilst still remaining a goal threat.”

Luis Palma proving to be a success

To think that the likes of Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda have missed many games this season just goes to show the quality Celtic have out wide.

When everyone is fit and performing, those two probably start, which will just increase the team’s value in the final third.

And all of that will come to the forefront during the crunch moments of the season and when Celtic visit Ibrox again.
