Rangers to announce big money player exit, option to buy update, detailed

The Herald reports that Sam Lammers’ loan transition from Rangers to FC Utrecht will not come with a set cost to make the agreement permanent.

According to an online story from the news outlet on January 9, Lammers is almost certain to sign a loan agreement with the Eredivisie team, and an announcement about the deal should come in the next 48 hours.

The Dutch attacking midfielder, who has made 31 appearances for the Gers but has only scored twice and assisted as many times, will be returning to his own country.

The 26-year-old was brought to Ibrox by former manager Michale Beale in a £3.5million deal from Serie A side Atalanta  and has seen his game time limited since the arrival of Philippe Clement in mid-October.

It makes sense that Lammers would be moved on from the club in January.

To say that the attacking midfielder has struggled to make an impact would be an understatement, and he is clearly not in Clement’s immediate or seemingly long-term plans. Therefore, a move away from Scotland seems like the best solution for all parties involved.

Lammers will be keen to get his career back on track in the Netherlands, where he started his journey into football.
