Ex-Rangers Boss Throw Dig At Old Club Over Ongoing Celtic Row

Amidst the ongoing spat between Rangers and Celtic about their “away fans,” former Rangers manager Michael Beale made a subtle jab at both teams’ rules.

The last four Old Firm derbies have not included any away fans due to a ticketing disagreement and worries over their safety.

This was a sharp contrast to yesterday’s FA Cup major event, in which Beale’s Sunderland lost to fierce rivals Newcastle 0-3 at home.

At the sold-out game, the 6,000-strong Newcastle fan base made their voices clear. Beale praised the post-match atmosphere while criticizing Celtic and Rangers’ actions:

The stadium was rocking today with incredible loudness. We don’t let the fans in for some derbies; I’ve experienced that in Scotland and Brazil. Thus, the derby, where certain fans of the opposing teams attend and compete with one another, is what keeps football alive.

Earlier this season, Beale was fired from his post at Rangers following a year in which the team struggled to defeat its formidable Old Firm rivals.
