Philippe Clement making first mistake in Rangers transfer snub

The previous few days have seen a noticeable increase in transfer rumors, with the Rangers-Steven Alzate connection being particularly exciting.

The 25-year-old has reportedly been offered to Philippe Clement, who can consult Nicolas Raskin for any additional scouting guidance because the two played together at Standard Liege.

Sacha Tovolieri, the journalist based in Belgium who first revealed the Raskin transfer, has shed light on the rumor. Rangers is not likely to make a bid for Steven Alzate anytime soon, but doing so would be a mistake.

The international Colombian seven-cap match

The seven-cap Colombian international perfectly fits the type of midfielder we should be targeting.

He can perform all the grunt work in front of the back four, much like Steven Davis, but he also has the kind of passing range the Gers manager requires from his deep-lying playmaker.

Tovolieri has explained that David Weir has offered Steven Alzate to us in an attempt to do us a favor; Rangers has not called to inquire about him.

Since coming to Ibrox, Clement has essentially had everything under control. Now, however, he must rebuild the team he inherited, which is without a number of essential players.

A player with game control and tempo management skills is one of them.

Ryan Jack and John Lundstram are not this kind of player.

Given how calm he is in control, Kieran Dowell has perhaps been the closest we have seen since Davis was hurt in recent weeks.

However, the former Norwich City playmaker is at his finest when he moves forward.

Pre-contract agreements are currently available for Stven Alzate, albeit Brighton has the option to extend his contract.

Rangers should be considering this kind of quality if the price is reasonable, which it should be considering his contract.

Perhaps Philippe Clement’s first error was missing out.
