Rodgers does all he can to keep Celtic star as West Ham want January transfer

It has been reported on 2 January that the talented midfielder is being watched by the Hammers, as well as Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Inter Milan are also said to want the Denmark international and want to take him on an initial loan move this month with an obligation to buy in the summer

This will be an interesting one to watch across the next month, with plenty of interest.

Leeds United pushed hard to sign O’Riley across the summer but saw a £10million bid rejected with Celtic clearly holding out for much more than that

The 0-0 draw with Brighton was the perfect example of how much West Ham struggles when they don’t have Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus available in the final third.

You cannot rely on two players every single week, and it is clear that reinforcements are needed to add more creativity throughout the squad, with Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals flopping slightly.

David Moyes will always have one eye on developments in Scotland, and especially Celtic given they are his boyhood club and where he started his professional career.

O’Riley has been firing in goals for fun from midfield at Parkhead, and if he could do the same in a central position at the London Stadium, he would become an instant hero.

Although Celtic may hold out for a big fee to sell him, that would still be nothing compared to the money spent on Kudus and Paqueta, potentially even only half of that.

Rodgers may not want to sell O’Riley, but the money and lure of the Premier League and European success could be too much to turn down if a move is made this month.
