Cyriel Dessers runs out of lives at Rangers as Ibrox exit mooted ahead of January transfer window

Cyriel Dessers has run out of lives at Rangers following his performance against Celtic on Saturday (30 December), according to Gary Keown.

Clement

Writing on pages 90 and 95 of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (31 December), the journalist blasted the 29-year-old for failing to take advantage of a one-on-one with Hoops keeper Joe Hart in the Gers’ 2-1 defeat at Parkhead. He said “enough’s enough” after the Nigerian international showed all the drive and purpose of the recently departed pandas during mating season at Edinburgh Zoo, adding that he has also boasted a similar strike rate during his time at Ibrox. Not good enough It simply wasn’t good enough from Dessers against Celtic as he missed an excellent chance to get Rangers back on level terms in the first half. The forward showed absolutely no composure whatsoever as he went through on goal before allowing a defender to catch up with him and Hart to make the save. He has to be scoring those chances because, despite his upturn in form under Philippe Clement, his outing in the Old Firm suggests he doesn’t have it in him to be the main man for the Gers. Meanwhile, Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi smashed in a superb effort from distance to show the Nigerian what it takes to be a big-game player at this level. With Danilo out for a few months and Kemar Roofe unable to stay fit, the Light Blues need a reliable forward who can score them the goals when it really counts.
