Swansea boss demands ‘apologies’ in Coventry City referee blast

Swansea City caretaker boss Alan Sheehan claims his side would have beaten Coventry City had it not been for refereeing decisions for both home goals at the CBS Arena. The interim manager says he feels “hard done by” after Haji Wright cancelled out Liam Walsh’s opener, and again when Ellis Simms poked over the line to give the Sky Blues the second half lead before a dramatic end to the game when the South Wales outfit pulled level from a stoppage time free-kick.

The 37-year-old coach bemoaned the decisions of referee Thomas Kirk for allowing the Coventry goals, saying that he expected an apology while revealing that he’d already sort of had one.

“They gave us everything tonight,” said Sheehan, speaking about his players whom he had demanded a response from following their 5-0 Boxing Day thrashing at Southampton.
“I feel hard done by with the goals we conceded. Referee decisions, I expect apologies, we’ve already kind of had one.
“The first goal is offside by quite a margin, and the second goal I believe is a foul on Matt Grimes. That being said, all the chips down, they kept going until the end. I’m so proud of them tonight for sticking together.”
