A learning process | Fijian Drua new kid thankful for opportunity to progress

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua lock Sailosi Vukalokalo says he has still a lot to learn before the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition kicks off in February.

The 22-year-old from Naweni Village in Cakaudrove was promoted from the Drua’s development squad for the new season.

He said it was a big step in his professional rugby career.

“I am learning from the senior boys and I am grateful for players like Isoa Nasilasila and Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta for their guidance and also to all the senior boys in the squad,” Vukalokalo said.

He said his personal objective was to learn as much as he could and give his best for the team at every opportunity.

“There is more improvements needed in my game and the coaching staff have really put us running and helped us in our training.

“I am excited for the next season, knowing I will get a chance to rub shoulders with some of the best rugby players in the world,” said the former Queen Victoria School rugby rep.

Meanwhile, the Drua kick off their 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaign against the Blues at Whangarei in New Zealand on February 24.

The Drua play their first home match against defending champions the Crusaders at Lautoka’s Churchill Park on March 9.
