Philippe Clement ‘Big Pull’ for Fabio Silva as Rangers close in on January transfer

The 21-year-old Portuguese striker is scheduled to join the club on January 1 to help solve the Ibrox club’s goal-scoring difficulties, and is said to be looking forward to the job ahead of him in Glasgow.

According to Football Scotland (28 December), the notion of working with Clement was a “big pull” for Silva, while new director of recruitment Nils Koppen also had a big influence on the agreement coming together.
“Football Scotland understands several clubs were chasing a deal to bring Silva in short-term but the player himself is excited about the challenge in front of him at Ibrox,” they wrote in a statement.

“We understand that the opportunity to work with Clement was a big draw for the attacker.” Nils Koppen, the new director of recruitment, is also thought to have played a significant role in bringing in the player.”
It’s a major deal for Rangers to get this done before the January transfer window even opens, because it was evident that a striker was a priority for the window.

Danilo and Kemar Roofe are continuously injured, while Sam Lammers’ future at the club appears gloomy due to poor form, and Cyriel Dessers has blown hot and cold since coming in the summer.
Silva is young and has struggled to make an impression in the Premier League with Wolves, but when given consistent game time at Anderlecht last season, he was superb, scoring 11 goals before his loan was cut short and he moved to Eindhoven.

He is certainly a natural finisher, and Clement will be familiar with him from his time in Belgium, so he will know exactly how he wants to use him.

A close relationship between the player and the manager usually results in a favorable transfer, which could mean the difference between winning the title or finishing second again.
