Fabio Silva in veiled Celtic swipe after Rangers transfer as Wolves loanee hypes up ‘best team in Scotland’ decision

The 21-year-old will go on loan to Ibrox from the English Premier League until the summer.

After learning about interest from teams north of the border, Fabio Silva, a recent recruit to the Rangers, stated he wanted to join the “best team” in Scotland.

After moving up the ranks at the English Premier League team after a massive £35 million move from Porto, the Wolves star left Molineux on loan. Manager Gary O’Neil approved the deal for the Portugal U21 cap to play more first-team minutes in the Scottish Premiership in an effort to boost his career. Attacker Silva was reportedly being pursued by several clubs throughout Europe, and rivals Celtic were reportedly making an offer for the star.

Celtic Park sources told Record Sport that they weren’t interested in the player and that they are now focusing on other targets for the January transfer window. That didn’t stop the 21-year-old from subtly criticising the Hornets, though, as he gushed about his representatives informing him about Ibrox’s interest.

When asked how he felt about the Light Blues’ interest, he told Rangers TV, “It was amazing.” As everyone knows, I had offers from other teams, but I was thrilled to have the chance to join Rangers on loan. That was my first choice out of the gate.

“I like to compete in major competitions, win titles, and play at big clubs where I can immediately feel the pressure.” Rangers was, in my opinion, the greatest team here when we talked about Scotland, so I came here.

“So I want to be here, to play with the fans and for my teammates and to win titles – that is the most important thing.”
