WHATEVER HAPPENED TO…ISLAM FERUZ?

The attacker, who was previously projected by former manager and coach Tommy Burns to go all the way to the top, left the Hoops at the age of 16 to join Chelsea.

Feruz was released by the London club on the final day of the 2018/19 season after a string of unsuccessful loans, including a spell with Hibs.

The Somali-born, Glasgow-raised player joined Parkhead at the age of ten before being enticed to Stamford Bridge six years later.

LITTLE BLUE BOY…Islam Feruz plays for the Chelsea reserves.

Feruz, then 14, played for Celtic’s first team in a memorial match for club hero Billy Burns in 2009, and two years later he left for Jose Mourinho’s side, despite approaches from Parkhead.

He made history as the youngest player ever to be selected for Scotland’s Under-21 team. Unfortunately, he only appeared twice for his chosen country.

After leaving Celtic, his career came to an abrupt halt. Before his career came to an end, he had temporary moves to OFI Crete (where he played twice), Blackpool, and Swindon Town.

Feruz showed a line of baseball caps with the insignia “Tajirii” – translated to “rich” in Swahili – and “Controversial One” sewn on the back as part of his new business venture.
