Rangers to challenge Celtic for striker labelled his generation’s “best number nine”

Reports from Portugal had previously suggested Rangers were interested in the 21-year-old hitman.

Now TEAMtalk are claiming that both Rangers and Celtic are looking to sign Fabio Silva on loan with the striker out of the picture in Gary O’Neil’s Wolves side.

Both Rangers – who’ve lost Danilo and Kemar Roofe to injury – and Celtic – who have lacked firepower this season to date – are known to be on the hunt for a striker in January.

Wolves wonderkid yet to reach potential

Both sides of the Old Firm have routinely faced off in the hunt for signings and it looks like Fabio Silva and Wolves could have some thinking to do in January.

It’s clear the Molineux club highly rate the Portuguese forward, splashing a reported £35.6m to sign the striker from Porto back in 2020 following his breakthrough as a teenager.

Back then, Chinese chairman Jeff Shi branded Silva “the best number nine coming through his age group anywhere in Europe”.

That high status in the Wolves squad also hasn’t been lost in recent seasons, despite the striker’s struggles, with the club handing Fabio Silva a new contract last summer.
