‘Knock that one right away’: Mark Guidi says Celtic’s supposed January signing won’t work

‘Knock that one right away’: Since Celtic intends to bolster their team in January, the supporters will all know which positions the manager needs to strengthen.

You could have pointed to many different positions on the pitch following Saturday’s loss to Hearts, but most people agree that they need a left-back, a custodian, a striker, and possibly a holding midfielder.

Journalist says Celtic 23-year-old could be replaced, with position targeted

Though there has been a strong argument made for it over the past few weeks, journalist Mark Guidi has suggested that there is one signing that Celtic will not make in January.

Guidi stated on [The Go Radio Football Show] that Joe Hart has been the focus of irate Celtic supporters for a number of months.

Although I believe it should be examined, I don’t think it should be a top priority in January for the custodian position.

He's been excellent'… Joe Hart can't hide his admiration for 25-year-old Celtic star

“Yes, go ahead and make the deal if someone comes up who can be their goalie for the next four seasons.

However, they would go after those other players before replacing Joe Hart if it meant spending an extra £6 million on a striker or midfielder rather than a goalie.

“Therefore, I would immediately knock that one.”

Joe Hart’s errors against Motherwell and St Johnstone have brought him under intense scrutiny this season.

Both his placement at set-piece free kicks and his inability to control his six-yard box at crosses and corners are questionable.

Nevertheless, in spite of everything, Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist are still unable to remove the former England international from between the Parkhead sticks.

There is one thing that is certain. It does appear that Hart is well past his prime at this point, even though he has been excellent for Celtic over the last two seasons.

Even though I think the team should keep him, his current position should be as a number two or in the coaching staff to aid in the development of the younger players.

First of all, I fear that the treble-winning hero’s time is running out.
