breaking news: ‘It worked’… John McGinn describes what Unai Emery did in the Aston Villa dressing room during halftime.

According to John McGinn, Unai Emery did something in the Aston Villa dressing room during halftime yesterday.

The Villa captain spoke to Viaplay on Sunday after his team defeated Tottenham 2-1.

The Villains put in a strong performance against Spurs, and their clinical finishing proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Indeed, Pau Torres’ header on the stroke of half-time brought Unai Emery’s men back into the game.

Villa were second-best in the first period and were fortunate to go into the break tied at 1-1.

However, according to John McGinn, Emery was overjoyed that his team had found a way back into the game.

McGinn describes Emery’s actions at halftime yesterday.

McGinn claims that Emery tweaked Villa’s system for the second half after a statement win in North London.

“The first half we were very fortunate today but I think the manager was delighted at half-time, he had a big smile on his face, because we weren’t behind and he has brought a real belief to us,” he added.

“At half time we changed the game plan a bit, made two subs, and it worked.”

At halftime, Emery decided to replace Mousa Diaby with Leon Bailey, and Youri Tielemans was also introduced for Matty Cash.

Villa played much better in the second half and were rewarded when Ollie Watkins scored the game-winning goal on the hour mark.

The Villains certainly rode their luck at times, as Tottenham were wasteful in front of goal. Emiliano Martinez, on the other hand, made some crucial saves.

It was a huge win for Villa, and it definitely puts him in the top four race.

It’s no secret that Emery’s men have struggled on the road, but their performance yesterday should boost their confidence away from home from now on.
