Dele Alli reacts after Dwight McNeil shares Everton update from hospital

Everton star Dwight McNeil took to social media to share an injury update with the fans after his most recent setback.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Everton’s game with Leicester, David Moyes confirmed the 25-year-old underwent surgery on a knee injury.

Moyes said: “Dwight’s had a minor surgery. I’ve just spoken to him as I walked into the press conference. It’s the first I’d seen him. He’s back in the building.

“So, hopefully this is sorting out his injury that was a little bit different to diagnose. But hopefully this will help get him back.”

Football Insider revealed (January 31) that Everton “have got a bit of money” to spend on new signings ahead of the February 3rd transfer deadline.

Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is one player Moyes’ side have their eye on, although Football Insider revealed a deal for the youngster would be ‘complicated.’

Dwight McNeil hoping to “be back soon” after recent Everton injury setback

McNeil had been key for Everton before his injury, starting all 15 of his games across all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing three assists in his 1323 minutes of action.

The winger’s last appearance came in Everton’s 4-0 Premier League win over fellow relegation-threatened side Wolves in early December.

McNeil took to Instagram to share an image of himself in a hospital bed, reassuring the fans that he will “be back soon“. Ex-Toffees midfielder Dele Alli was among those to like the post, with a number of current and former teammates commenting well wishes.

Football Insider also revealed (January 28) that Moyes wants reinforcements at left-back, in central midfield, and at centre-forward before the window shuts on 3 February.

The Merseyside club have seen a slight up-turn in form since Moyes returned, losing one and winning two of his three Premier League games.
