How Louis Page felt about Arsenal and Man United interest after signing new Leicester City contract
EFL Analysis can reveal how close Louis Page was to considering offers from Premier League giants before signing a professional deal with Leicester City.
Page is one of the many exciting talents to have come through the academy in recent years and has broken into the first team under Marti Cifuentes.
The midfielder has played three times in all competitions and grabbed an assist in Leicester’s 2-0 win against Birmingham City.
Leicester confirmed that the 17-year-old had signed his first professional deal this week and there were two big factors in keeping hold of the England youth international.
Did Louis Page consider joining a Premier League club?
Footballers’ careers have a short life span and Page could have been attracted by the bright lights of the Premier League.
However, according to EFL Analysis‘ Chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Page was never interested in offers from other clubs and believes that the best thing for his career is to remain at the King Power Stadium.
Bailey added that Page will also be allowed to sign a new professional contract when he turns 18 and that Leicester are glad he followed in the footsteps of generational talent Jeremy Monga.
Does Louis Page’s Leicester contract have a release clause?
Given the talent of the youngster, holding out for as much money as possible will be important for the Foxes.
There may have been a temptation for Page to request for a release clause to be inserted that would’ve allowed for clubs to come in for him.
EFL Analysis understands that there is no release clause in his contract and that any clubs who come in for him will have to match any asking price that Leicester set.
