In a dramatic turn of events, Brendan Rodgers has accepted Brighton & Hove Albion’s offer to become their new manager, leaving his position at Celtic fc after just one successful year.
Rodgers, who led Leicester to two consecutive fifth-place finishes and an FA Cup title in 2021, has signed a four-year deal with Brighton worth around £10 million per year.
The 49-year-old Northern Irishman expressed his excitement about joining the Seagulls, saying: “I’m thrilled to be joining this ambitious club. The project here is incredibly exciting, and I’m looking forward to working with the talented squad.”
Brighton chairman Tony Bloom hailed Rodgers’ appointment as a “major coup” for the club, adding: “We’re delighted to welcome Brendan to the club. His experience and success speak for themselves, and we’re confident he’ll take us to the next level.”
Rodgers will officially take charge of Brighton on August 1, with his first task being to prepare the team for the upcoming Premier League season.
