Four Lads Had a Dream’s Stevie Clifford admits he would take Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri on loan at Rangers.
Having watched United’s youth and reserve players beating Gers 2-0 over the weekend, Clifford has issued a realistic admission on how the squad is ahead of the new season.
Gers have made six new signings this summer, but the playing eleven is yet to be massively improved.
Speaking on Rangers Review on 22 July at 33:16, Clifford said: “We got beat by a bunch of kids in Manchester United, a bunch of reserves.
“You look to every one of them and you thought to yourself, ‘Yeah I would take that guy on loan.’
“I would take the boy Hannibal straight away.”
Hannibal Mejbri would undoubtedly add bite to the Rangers midfield
Gers should seize the opportunity, if it exists, to sign Mejbri on loan, as he would bring a much-needed dynamic presence to their midfield.
The 20-year-old Tunisia international has already showcased his talents in the Premier League with Manchester United and during his loan spell at Sevilla.
His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively would greatly enhance the club’s midfield options.
Mejbri’s style of play is characterised by his high work rate, technical skills and ability to read the game.
He is adept at winning the ball back, breaking up opposition attacks and initiating quick transitions, which would make Clement’s side a lot more fluid on the counter attack.
Moreover, Mejbri’s experience in top-flight football and his international pedigree would add valuable leadership and maturity to the Gers squad so it remains to be seen if this actually materialises.
