‘Derek McInnes will be the next Rangers manager’ after source’s reveal

Rangers fans want Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes to take over should the club decide to part ways with Philippe Clement.

Rangers were unable to capitalise on top two Celtic and Aberdeen dropping points after losing 1-0 to the 53-year-old’s Kilmarnock on Sunday (October 20).

Marley Watkins, 34, bagged the 84th-minute winner to secure all three points for the home side and further pile the pressure on Clement.

Football Insider revealed (October 21) that the Glasgow club are stepping up plans to sack the 50-year-old in the wake of their defeat against Kilmarnock.

This comes despite the board extending the manager’s contract during the summer transfer window, keeping him at Ibrox until 2028.

The Scotsman is under contract at Kilmarnock until 2027 but the club would find it hard to resist Rangers’ advances if they did come in for him.

Sitting in third and underwhelmed by their start to the Scottish Premier League season, the Ibrox faithful took to X, formally known as Twitter, to discuss the future.
