Shots fired as Gers star takes aim at Killie flop teammates

Rangers blew the chance to make inroads into the gap at the top of the table by failing to beat Kilmarnock by any means.

Games at Rugby Park tend not to be for the total football purists, but the second most expensive squad in the Scottish Premiership shouldn’t struggle as badly as they did.

Thankfully, or not as the case may be, Rangers are back in action on Thursday with the visit of FSCB to Ibrox, something that Leon Balogun can’t wait for.

Leon Balogun urges Rangers teammates to learn lessons

Speaking after the dysmal display in Ayrshire, the veteran defender knows that now is not the time for talking:

“We can make it right on Thursday but we have to take the right lessons out of this today.

“I don’t even want to see it’s a bump in the road because it’s happened too often already this season.

“We are due a performance and we need to make it right. I‘m not going to come here and say big words because the proof is in the pudding; you’ve got to do it on the pitch.

“If we can’t bring the performance on to the park then someone else is going to stand here on another day and try to make things right.

“We’ve just got to bring what we need to bring to every game and make sure we don’t sleep in moments, make sure we do it consistently over the 90 minutes and show what Rangers is all about.”

Rugby Park flops should be dropped

Balogun is right.

Even with the restrictions caused by injury, there is no reason why Philippe Clement should stick by players who aren’t performing.

The Gers boss has made mistakes himself and needs to make changes, however, the players can’t keep failing to deliver when it matters most and expect to keep their place in the team.

Balogun had been there and done it with Rangers, he knows why it takes to win the league which is why he is so clearly frustrated at what he is seeing from some of his teammates.

Places like Rugby Park are not for the feint hearted or for those who think that three points will come without a fight.
