Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Rangers will struggle to replace head of football operations Creag Robertson while there is “no clear ownership at the top”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed there will be “young, hungry guys” applying for the role, but they are not the answer.
Rangers confirmed Robertson’s exit on 16 October through an update from interim chairman John Gilligan.
The Gers are also without a CEO or long-term chairman after a boardroom exodus in recent months.
Gilligan responded to the blow by claiming he and George Letham are “working tirelessly alongside our executive management team to continue to drive the club forward”.
Director of recruitment Nils Koppen remains in place at Ibrox and the interim chair insisted he is working on plans with Philippe Clement for the January window.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I don’t know who would take on the Rangers situation at the moment.
“It’s going to be difficult for them to hire in any of these roles.
There’s no clear ownership at the top, and that’s a big factor when you’re a director of football.

“Everything has got to come from the top, and it’s got to be resolved at the top.”
