Philippe Clement may be close to deciding whether or not he wants to leave Rangers, believes Kris Boyd.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun [19 July], the former Gers forward fears that the lack of funds available to strengthen the squad may see the Belgian walking away.

Boyd does not see Clement suffering if he does not get what he was promised when he took over the job.

He said: “Philippe Clement looks to me like a man on the brink. Like someone who could easily walk away from Rangers anytime soon. I hate saying that. And I hope I’m wrong.

“But that’s what I took from his comments about the job he’s being asked to do right now.

“The lack of funds to rebuild the squad with money only available if he sells someone first. This wasn’t what he signed up for, was it? Clement strikes me as a shrewd guy, he’s certainly not someone who suffers fools gladly.

“With that in mind, I genuinely fear he’s close to deciding the situation leaves him with only one option. And that’s to quit.”

Rangers have massively let down Philippe Clement thus far

Clement, who joined the club with high expectations, now faces the challenge of rebuilding the squad without adequate financial backing.

This situation is likely not what he anticipated when he took on the role.

Rangers’ failure to support the Belgian in the transfer market could indeed push him to the brink.

If the club continue to withhold funds unless players are sold, it may undermine Clement’s ability to reshape the team according to his vision.

This lack of backing could erode the manager’s confidence in the club’s commitment to his plans and his long-term future at Ibrox.

To retain Clement and restore the club’s competitiveness, the Ibrox outfit must address this issue promptly.

Failure to do so could result in the Belgian’s departure, which would be a significant setback for the club.
